Share the Science presents
Clinical outcomes after cord blood transplantation

Originally presented March 28, 2019

Outcomes after umbilical cord blood transplantation have been reported similar to the ones after transplants using different stem cell sources. In this presentation, Dr. Filippo Milano shows how cord blood can be associated with a lower risk of relapse in patients with high risk hematological malignancies.

Furthermore, he presents exciting data regarding lower risk of Graft Versus Host Disease (GVHD) in patients receiving cord blood as a source of stem cells. These finding correlate with a higher likelihood of return to normal activities, with a corresponding improvement in quality of life.

View the webcast to learn some of the research team's key findings, including:

  • The clinical outcomes in patients with residual disease undergoing transplantation
  • The risk of chronic GVHD in patients undergoing cord blood transplantation
  • Quality of life outcomes measured by return to school and work in patients undergoing transplantation using an alternative source of stem cells
